on humanism and environmental crisis

This game will evolve into “The smartest human of the week”. But we are starting now at, so to speak “garage” level.

This blog has no capacity for browsing, scoring, chat-rooming and site -navigating  frills.

Please:

1. Pick up your V number which is not taken- check the comments below.

2. describe yourself in 1 line ( name or else)

3. Answer 13 questions describing your worldview – in maximum 140 characters- or twitter size.  Mark them with your number .

Here are the questions. Copy them and Paste in the “Leave a reply” ( They ask you to give name and email . This is embarrassing  but they try to sort out the spam). Write your answers after each question. Click “post comment”.  Put them on the fridge and use every day. This your explicit Worldview.

I .What is the Universe made of?
II.What is the nature of mind?
III.How did the Universe begin?
IV.What is going to happen to the humankind?
V.What is the role of the evolution in your worldview?
VI.What is the origin and the nature of goodness in the world?
VII.What is the origin and the nature of evil in the world?
VIII.Is there free will and can one make a difference?
IX.What is the meaning of life?
X.How do you find the truth?
XI.How do you find happiness?
XII.What about the extraterrestial intelligence?

XIII. What will happen after you die?

There is a dilemma – should it be the minimum length of the response?

If you want to comment, stick your comment  under ” The project and the concepts: ..”, Here we’ll keep just the answers.

  1. V 40 of 13/tpk (first 12 reserved for the really famous people, Clement Vidal is #12)

    I. What is the Universe made of? one part molecules of atoms to 99 parts space.

II. What is the nature of mind? self-consciousness

III. How did the Universe begin? birth, mom, dad, twin, siblings, the floor, the rug, outside, rain, dirt, salamanders, other kids, the car, … then words.

IV. What is going to happen to the humankind? i don’t know. nobody else does either.

    V. What is the role of the evolution in your worldview? better physical and mental adaptation of life forms to the physical environment with each generation.

VI. What is the origin and the nature of goodness in the world? enlightened self-interest. awareness that what’s good for other people is good for me too.

VII. What is the origin and the nature of evil in the world? mental illness. organic and chemical deviations in a person’s mind, or that of a parent’s, or relational emotional trauma in youth.

VIII. Is there free will and can one make a difference? yes and yes. original ideas cannot be programmed into the human mind. and regardless of mental pull, chemical preferences can be overcome.

IX. What is the meaning of life? “meaning” is a subjective fiction each of us creates and projects onto the reality we share. apart from our own mental creations, there is nothing larger, nothing objective.

    X. How do you find the truth? first i check wikipedia. if it sounds right, i’m satisfied. if i don’t find the truth there, i look elsewhere until i find it. if i don’t find it anywhere else, then i try to reason it through and make it up for myself.

XI. How do you find happiness? when i was young it was pretty easy and faster: good books, a quiet place to read, companionship, sex, beer for self-medication, learning. now it’s changed. now i want to change things to reflect my view of beauty, of righteousness, of correct information for others to use, and in my daughters’ smiles.

XII. What about the extraterrestrial intelligence? haven’t encountered any to speak of. but it’s a really good mental device for thought games and science fiction novels.

XIIV. What will happen after you die? my brain will dis-integrate, the universe will lose one bit but gain seven more.

  2. I want to be number 69. My name is Luke Prater. I’m a hairless ape. Here are my answers:
    1. What is the Universe made of? Matter.
    2. What is the nature of mind? Ordered matter.
    3. How did the Universe begin? Space manatees laid an egg.
    4. What is going to happen to the humankind? We’re going to keep evolving and spread out into the galaxy like the spores of mushroom.
    5. What is the role of the evolution in your worldview? I don’t see evolution as a progression toward or from anything, It isn’t guiding us to any planned end. It isn’t sentient. It isn’t a god. It’s just a random process, like erosion.
    6. What is the origin and the nature of goodness in the world? Morality is derived from our basal reptile brain, that nugget beneath our cerebellum and cerebrum that knows by instinct, what will best suit our personal survival.
    7. What is the origin and the nature of evil in the world? Evil is what we call things that violate our base survival instincts.
    8. Is there free will? Yes and no. From our point of view, yes we have free will. For an observer able to view our lives from outside the dimension we experience as linear time, our lives would appear as uninterrupted strings existing at all times simultaneously. This would hint that in fact our lives are already written and therefore we have no free will while acting them out.
    9. What is the meaning of life? Enjoyment.
    10. How do you find the truth? By assembling facts into a coherent narrative.
    11. How do you find happiness? By doing what you want.
    12. What about the extraterrestrial intelligence? I think they’re out there. We can’t be the only creepy crawlies to have spawned into existence on one of the billions of mossy rocks floating around in space.
    13. What happens when you die? I don’t know and anyone who tells you they do is selling snake oil.

  3. Reblogged this on Praternatural and commented:
This is Dr. Tom Voychehovski’s worldview game. Copy & paste the questions into the comment box and provide your own answers. Provide your name and a short tweet about yourself. The only rule of the game is to keep answers to the length of a tweet!

  4. The answers are trickling. Peter Brown thinks that just figuring out your answers is not fun.
He thinks people need an incentive to put your worldview which is in your heart (implicit) on the paper , into the language (explicit). I think that benefits of that process are huge- you can see it, compare with others, discuss, ridicule etc. and it is fun. He thinks we need to ask the question: ” is your worldview killing you?” and maybe even give you an answer as a reward for submitting the description of your worldview.

  5. Luke Lea :I am taking number 70. That’s how old I am.

    1. What is the Universe made of? Strings.
    2. What is the nature of mind? Got me.
    3. How did the Universe begin? Bang!
    4. What is going to happen to the humankind? I’m worried about that.
    5. What is the role of the evolution in your worldview? Play the hand you’re dealt.
    6. What is the origin and the nature of goodness in the world? Group selection.
    7. What is the origin and the nature of evil in the world? You’re in the wrong group.
    8. Is there free will? Only if you think you will be punished — then you won’t do it.
    9. What is the meaning of life? Got me again.
    10. How do you find the truth? I’ll let you know.
    11. How do you find happiness? I donnot know.
    12. What about the extraterrestrial intelligence? They may be out there but we will never have two way communication because of distance and the speed of light.
    13. What happens when you die? I’m worried about that too.

  6. Dr.Vidal replied and said
“I have already played the game (http://tinyurl.com/Vidal-Cosmic-Worldview).
So, I encourage you to motivate others to play the game.”
He, as V12 is not bound by any rules of the game… His answers are fascinating but very difficult to understand for me. Please everybody, dig into it and illuminate me.. Tom

  7. Sophia Voychehovski:I am V15! I am getting in to “claim” my spot. (But you know, people will want a username, not a number!)
